Sidroga Gesellschaft für Gesundheitsprodukte GmbH is a medium-sized company based in Bad Ems, Germany. The company distributes pharmaceuticals and medical products for respiratory therapy in various European countries. IFID and Sidroga have a long-standing partnership which led to IFID being commissioned to revise and improve Germany's most successful nasal rinsing product.
The product of the subsidiary brand EMS had to be adapted for new markets without losing the product's iconic design and characteristic features. Through an extensive research process, we identified concrete improvement requests from users. During the design process, these were evaluated, and solutions developed, focusing on the hygienic aspects and handling of the product.
The result is a simple, timeless cylindrical shape, realised with a wide stand and identically shaped ends, which fits securely in hand. In combination with generously chosen diameters, we highly simplified the handling. The lid and base can be attached on either side so that there is no risk of operating errors. In addition, the bayonet locks are firmly closed after only a quarter turn. The large diameters, as well as the easy disassembly, ensure thorough cleaning in the dishwasher. The axial alignment of the bottle made it possible to develop a cost-optimised blow mould, which led to an enormous reduction in tooling costs.
