IFID was commissioned by Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE to develop new products based on their solar technology. The Fraunhofer Insitute ISE creates the technical framework for an efficient and environmentally friendly energy supply, both in industrialized and in newly industrializing and developing countries. With its main research areas of energy generation, energy efficiency, energy distribution and energy storage, it contributes to the broad application of new technologies for the transformation of our energy system towards sustainable and renewable sources.
We organized a collaborative innovation workshop to get to know each other, familiarise ourselves with the technological framework, and generate ideas. Different teams of designers and Fraunhofer employees developed a variety of concepts. The interdisciplinary work between the teams generated many ideas with technically feasible solutions.
After the client and we had agreed upon one of the concepts, we conducted a second design and development round. As a result, one concept was further designed and presented to the client. The CPV-Design concept is currently in further development at Fraunhofer ISE, and a demonstrator build is being planned.
